Thaipusam

Thaipusam commemorates Murugan - one of Hindu gods - winning over the demon called Soorapadam, and it originates from the south Indian state of Tamil. Today it is celebrated mostly outside of India, among Tamil communities in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Mauritius. In Malaysia the biggest celebrations take place in KL’s Batu Caves and in Penang.
