Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

This is possibly the most famous of all the national parks in Australia and it is for a good reason. It is a home to two incredible things – Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) and Olgas (also known as Kata Tjuta). Everyone has heard of Uluru and seen it on tv or on a photograph, so that one doesn’t require any introduction. Olgas is less known, but it is as beautiful as Uluru (and some people say it is even more stunning). We went to see them during Easter long weekend. The weather was not great, there was lots of rain and clouds, so I was a tiny bit disappointed. But on the other hand I got to see the waterfalls running down Uluru, which is not something that everyone gets to see.

And yes, it is true that Uluru changes colors through the day.

Sydney Mardi Gras 2013

This year’s Mardi Gras Parade was the biggest and best yet. It is the 35th year of the Mardi Gras movement and they put on a spectacular event. The parade is the second biggest annual event in Australia (after Sydney’s New Year’s Eve celebrations) and this year over 300,000 people lined Oxford Street to see it. I had lots of fun shooting it. I took over 1500 photos and it will take me a while to go through them, but I’ve picked a few to show you today:

Postcards from Tasmania

January 2013, Tasmania, Australia.

A few days ago I got back from a wonderful long weekend in Tasmania. Compared to the other Australian states Tasmania is rather small, but it doesn’t mean that three days is enough time to see it. Quite the contrary. I’ve only touched the surface, driving from Hobart up north to a magical lavender farm, then famous Bay of Fires with the magnificent red rocks, and then driving down along the east coast, stopping at a few beautiful spots. All I can say at this point is that I want more of Tasmania, much much more. So the plan is to return there at the end of this year for a couple of weeks and see the rest of the island.

And now come the photos :)

This is where I call home

Redfern, Sydney. October 2012

Redfern’s got a reputation. Not a very good one. It used to be a dangerous and rather unpleasant part of Sydney. But that was 8-10 years ago. It is a very different place now. It’s changed a lot. But the reputation has stayed. Lots of people think I am crazy wanting to live there. Of course these are the people who’ve never been to Redfern and wouldn’t have a clue. They just know the stories about Redfern from years ago.

Luckily, the reputation is slowly improving and more and more Sydneysiders hear that Redfern is actually quite a cool place. Located just 30min stroll from Sydney’s town hall, it is one of the most convenient places to live in Sydney if you want to be close to the City. I personally love it.

Four years spent living in this neighborhood thought me that prejudice of any kind is the not how people should build their opinion about anything.  It’s just not fair. A massive prejudice cloud has been hanging over Redfern for many years now, but I really hope it will disappear very soon.
